Robert Anderson Stanford, affectionately known as “Sarge” or “Robbie”, passed away on December 25, 2024, on his 82nd birthday. He was born on December 25, 1942, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Mr. Charles B. Stanford and the late Mrs. Bernice M. Little Stanford.
He lived a life marked by love, dedication, and a deep sense of community. Robert had a commendable career, working for Bellsouth Communications for 32 years. His commitment to his profession was evident throughout his tenure, and he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Prior to embarking on his career, he proudly served in the Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant, a role that instilled in him a sense of discipline and leadership that he carried into his civilian life.
A graduate of tech school, Robert was not only passionate about technology but also greatly enjoyed outdoor activities. His hobbies included fishing, camping, and the outdoors, all complemented by his fascination with computers and reading the Bible. He was a soft-spoken man with a loving demeanor, who cherished his family and social gatherings. His love for animals was well-known among those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Robert's fondest memories were created during family vacations and travels, moments he treasured with his wife and daughters. He took immense pride in his family, considering them his greatest accomplishment. His legacy includes a loving relationship with his children and grandchild, all of whom will carry forward his values of love and kindness.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Sherrill Stanford; daughters, Michelle (Larry) Jenkins, and Elizabeth “Beth” Dunton; grandchild, Charlie Rice; brother, Richard (Cissi) Stanford.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Robert Stanford was cremated. His family will hold a memorial service in his honor and will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, followed by his memorial service starting at 4:00 PM.
