Mr. Robert Stockton Smythe Mr. Robert Stockton Smythe, age 85, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007 at his residence. He was born January 10, 1922 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Robert Homer Smythe and the late Mrs. Lola Stockton Smythe. He married Helen Frances McCollum on January 11, 1942 in Atlanta. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. Mr. Smythe was an office manager for a Lumber Company, Addison Inc. He was a member of the Lithia Springs First Baptist Church where he was a strong supporter of the missions ministry. He and his wife loved to RV across country and enjoyed camping at Vogel State Park. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Frances McCollum Smythe of Lithia Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Karol and Michael Standridge of McDonough; son, Kevin Smythe of Lithia Springs; grandchildren, Paige Standridge Richey and her husband Lt. Wayne Richey, Jr. of Ft. Stewart, GA and Brandon Standridge of McDonough; one nephew, Robert A. Taylor. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs with Dr. Bob Whitmire and Dr. Marion Beaver officiating. Mr. Smythe will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. The following will serve as pallbearers: Brandon Standridge, Lt. Wayne Richey, Jr., Robert Taylor, Steve Eller, Terry Redwine, Gary Eller and honorary pallbearers will be Bud Eller, Bruce Kelley, and Fred Byrd. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Friday, December 28, 2007 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mr. Robert Stockton Smythe may be made to the Dr. Marion Beaver Trust Fund or the Annie Armstrong Mission Offering c/o First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs, 3566 Veterans Memorial Highway, Lithia Springs, Georgia 30122.
