Roberta Johnson Childers

Mrs. Roberta (Nana) Johnson Childers, 87, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 13, 1918 in LaGrange, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. Robert Lee Johnson and the late Mrs. Berter Henry Johnson. She married Lewis Thomas Childers on July 11, 1936 in Jonesboro, Georgia. She was a member of Towaliga Baptist Church in Jackson, Georgia. She retired from Print Pac Inc. as a printing machine operator. Mr. and Mrs. Childers lived most of their life together in East Point, Georgia and later lived in Jackson, Georgia on High falls Lake and then in Homosassa, Florida. She was a past member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Homosassa, Florida. Mrs. Childers loved to go fishing and enjoyed crocheting and specialized in crocheting dolls and blankets. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grand mother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Lewis Thomas Childers on November 17, 2003; her sisters, Eris Williere Brown, Mozell Jacobs and Beatrice Cox and brothers, Charles Melvin Johnson, Robert Johnson and Nathan Johnson. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Jean Childers of Douglasville and Knox and Janelle Childers of Macon; one sister, Joyce Griffin of Riverdale; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Talmadge Walker officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at the Towaliga Baptist Church Cemetery in Jackson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 from 9:30 AM until the funeral hour.
