Mr. Roger Wendell Thomas, age 71, of Douglasville, Georgia went to be with the Lord Monday, February 15, 2010 at his home following a faith-filled battle with cancer. He was born December 18, 1938 in Stearns, Kentucky the son of the late Mrs. Katherine Wilson Thomas and Mr. Howard Thomas of Douglasville. He was a committed follower of and lover of Jesus. He worked as a Sales Executive for ADT Security Systems for 40 years. He was a lifetime athlete and enjoyed basketball, golf and biking. He spent many hours in the place of prayer before the Lord, interceding over the many whom he loved and fathered. He had a heritage of singing and listening to gospel music. He was a car enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Linda Leach Thomas of Douglasville; daughters and son-in-law, Traci and Bill McConnell of Bartlesville, OK, Torri D. and Randy DeLong of Bartlesville, OK, Elizabeth and Christopher Taylor of Tequesta, FL, Gale and Kevin Rulapaugh of High Springs, FL; sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel G. and Anabel Varner of High Springs, FL and Joshua Tukman of Besalt, CO; his father Howard Thomas of Douglasville; sister, Nancy Thomas Gad of Austell; 23 grandchildren - biological, by marriage and âadoptionâ; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive. Wendellâs Homegoing Celebration will be held Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Kingtown Cemetery in Strunk, Kentucky on Saturday, February 20, 2010.
