Roland Glen Jones, age 81, passed away on August 5, 2023. Born on June 21, 1942, in Burrville, TN, he lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
Roland found his true calling as a truck driver and spent many years traveling the open roads. His commitment to his profession earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends in the industry. Outside of his career, Roland had a multitude of passions that brought him immense joy. He had an undeniable love for horseback riding and often found solace in nature's beauty while exploring on horseback. He was known to be quite the cowboy movie watcher. Roland proudly served his country in the army, where he learned valuable lessons of discipline and loyalty. Roland cherished spending time with his family. He was a pillar of support and love for his wife Mary Jones, who stood by his side throughout their journey together.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Mintford Jones and Mrs. Elsie Mae Dixon Jones; daughter, Hope Brown; eleven siblings and two grandchildren.

Roland had a vibrant spirit and was famous for his quick wit and sense of humor. He had an uncanny ability to bring people together through laughter. Whether it was sharing jokes with friends or telling tales around the dinner table with family members, his joyful presence brightened every room he entered. Roland could often be found savoring a cup of coffee. It was during these moments that he would reflect on the beauty of life and find peace in the simple pleasures. He also had a tradition of having a picnic in the back of his truck every summer, creating lasting memories with family and friends.
The memory of Roland Glen Jones will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. While Roland's physical presence may be gone, his spirit will live on through the cherished memories that he has left behind.
Services to celebrate and honor Roland's life will be held on August 10, 2023. Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn - Douglas Chapel located at 2189 Midway Road, Douglasville, GA 30135. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.
