Mr. Ronald Clayton Benson, age 71, of Douglasville, passed away, Friday, October 30, 2015. He was born August 7, 1944 in Atlanta the son of the late Mr. James Roy Benson and the late Mrs. Shirley Katherine Brown Benson. He graduated from Douglas County High School and received his Associates from Dekalb Community College. Mr. Benson was retired from the United States Army and retired from Lockheed. He served as a principal for 13 years at New Life Christian School. He was a member of New Life Assembly and Light House Apostolic in Carrollton. Mr. Benson loved helping people, visiting the elderly, telling jokes, ministering at the Atlanta Juvenile Detention Center for boys and loved attending singings. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Harold Carlyle. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ronda and Steve Kitchens of Milledgeville; sons and daughters-in-law, Caleb and Janet Benson of Douglasville, Michael and Vanessa Benson of Diamondhead, MS.; sisters and brother-in-law, Marilyn Carlyle of Marietta, Annette and John Laseau of Decatur, Sherry Dulin of Mooresville, NC; brother and sister-in-law, James and Alma Benson of Douglasville; eight grandchildren, Trenton Benson, Candace Nelson, Shayla Benson, Michael Benson, Jacob Kitchens, Peyton Kitchens, Grace Benson and Corbin Kitchens; nieces and nephews, Kelly Anderson, Russell Benson, Danette Wright, Shelly Green, Tina Tillson, Virginia Wagner and Sharon Futter.The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Monday, November 2, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Mr. Benson will lie in state Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 12:00 PM from the Atlanta West Pentecostal Church in Lithia Springs with Bro. Donald Abernathy, Bro. Sammuel Humphries and Cortt Chavis officiating. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens with Georgia National Military Honor Guard.
