Mr. Ronald Thomas Ray, age 70, of Villa Rica, passed away, Monday, March 11, 2019. He was born March 31, 1948 in Tutwiler, MS the son of the late Mr. Vernon W. Ray and the late Mrs. Marie Wolfe Ray. As a teenager Ronnie trusted the Lord Jesus as his savior and became a born again believer. He joined the United States army, serving in the Signal Corps in the combat areas of Viet Nam from June, 1968 to June,1969.. He retired from RMDS a division of Napa Auto Parts. Following retirement he worked with the Georgia Department of Corrections and Middle Georgia Technical College where he trained inmates to operate tractor trailers. He was a member of American Legion Post 143. During much of his life he served the Lord by working in the bus and tape ministries in his church. He was technologically savvy, using many of the latest technical inventions. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Mosley, and brother, Charles Ray. He is survived by his wife, Margie Cook Ray, Villa Rica; sisters, Paula Gregory, Charleston, SC, Pamela Sharrard, Panama City, FL, Donna Ray, Winfield, AL, Anita Wilson, Maryville, TN; brothers, Wallace V. (Janie) Ray, Northport, AL, Stephen Ray, Winfield, AL, Darren Ray, Birmingham, AL; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Hughlene Cook (Gene) Folds, Clem, GA. Sybil Cook Needham, Ridgeway, IA; and two dogs, Cinnamon and Precious. The following will serve as pallbearers, Ralph Brown, Rusty Brown, Stanley Folds, Tommy Cook, Tony Cook and Joe Morgan.The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Joseph Needham officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 2:00 PM. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
