Ronel Morgan Urice

Ronel Morgan Urice, 85, of Douglasville, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026. He was born on September 25, 1940, the son of the late Virgil Ford Urice and Orella Mae Millner Hicks Urice.

Ronel was a devoted family man and respected Navy Captain, who lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a deep commitment to his loved ones and his country.

Captain Urice served with honor in the United States Navy, where he achieved the distinguished rank of Navy Captain. His leadership was most notably demonstrated through his command of the U.S.S. Stonewall Jackson, a submarine on which he faithfully served. Following his retirement from the Navy, Ronel continued to dedicate himself to service, becoming an Elder at Immanuel Bible Church in Virginia, where he was a guiding presence in the spiritual lives of many.

Throughout his life, Ronel displayed a passion for sports. He was an accomplished football player during his high school years and continued playing while serving in the Navy. His involvement with the ROTC reflects his early commitment to military service and leadership. Additionally, he enjoyed playing tennis, a sport that complemented his active lifestyle and competitive spirit.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joel Urice.

He is survived by his loving wife Brenda Kay Bitner Urice; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Urice of Lee, New Hampsire, Kelly Urice of New Milford, Connecticut, Romy (Fred) Janson of New Milford, Connecticut, Angie (Keith) Fielding of Los Angeles, California; son, Garth Urice of Newnan, Georgia; grand-child, Archana Urice; nephew, Chad Urice.

Service times are still spending.

Interment will be held in Sunnylane Cemetary in Del City, Okalahoma.

Ronel Morgan Urice’s life was one characterized by steadfast dedication—to his family, his country, and his faith. His contributions to the military and his community leave a lasting legacy that will be remembered with great respect and admiration. He is mourned by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
