Ronnie Popham

Mr. Ronnie Layne Popham, age 74, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Monday, November 5, 2012. He was born May 27, 1938 in Coosa County, Georgia the son of the Mrs. Mollie Marie Martin Popham and the late Major Benson Popham. He served in the National Guard and retired from AT&T with 33 years of service. He was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Lithia Springs First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather and he was loved by all who knew him. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ben Popham. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlene Harper Popham of Lithia Springs; two daughters and a son-in-law, Terri and Gene Swinson of Lithia Springs and Tracy Whitehead of Powder Springs; his mother, Mollie Marie Martin Popham of Douglasville; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dixie Popham of Douglasville; seven grandchildren, Tera Swinson of Lithia Springs, MaryBeth Swinson of Vinings, Allison Swinson of Kennesaw, Jake Swinson of Lithia Springs, Lauren Whitehead of Kennesaw, Natalie Whitehead of Powder Springs and Olivia Whitehead of Powder Springs; one great-granddaughter, Brie Berrebi of Lithia Springs; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Kevin McCoy and Dr. Marion Beaver officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations in his memory be made to the Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) Foundation, 3330 Dundee Rd.
