Roy McDonald “Donald” Abercrombie, 91, of Wedowee, Alabama, formerly of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024. He was born on June 1, 1933, the son of the late Roy Abercrombie and the late Minnie Faye Leathers Abercrombie.
Roy’s life was characterized by a deep love for the outdoors. He found great joy in fishing, particularly on the serene waters of Lake Wedowee. His passion for fishing was matched only by his love for gardening.
As a strong and steady family man, Roy was a source of unwavering support and inspiration to all who knew him. His commitment to his loved ones was evident in everything he did.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lois McDearis Abercrombie; children, Doug Abercrombie, Janet Miller and Teresa Brown; and seven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna (Bill) Ward of Lake Jordan, AL and Kathy (Joe) Norsworthy of Jackson, GA; son, Tim (Lisa) Abercrombie of Douglasville; brother, Sammy (Linda) Abercrombie of Douglasville; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Terry Marbut officiating. Interment will take place at Douglasville City Cemetery.
