Mr. Roy Edward Landers, affectionately known as “Stretch”, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 27, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born on October 30, 1940, to the late Mr. Earl D. Landers and the late Mrs. Ella Mae Matthews Landers.
Professionally, Roy dedicated himself to Austell Gas, where he worked for an impressive 35 years. His ability to fix anything around the house endeared him to everyone. Whether it was a creaky door or a broken appliance, he took on each challenge with patience and skill.
But it was not just in his career where Roy’s impact was felt. He was a joyful presence in the lives of his loved ones, known for his humor, playful antics, and goofy spirit. A good teacher at heart, he taught many through his actions and exemplified the importance of spending quality time with family. He often enjoyed fishing trips, camping adventures, and woodworking projects. Roy’s love for the outdoors was only matched by his affection for animals; he cherished his sweet dog, Suzie, who continued to fill his days with joy after the passing of his loyal companion, Sammy.
Roy’s almost 60-year marriage to his wife, JoAnn, was one of his proudest achievements. Their bond, which remained strong until her passing in 2023, served as a testament to enduring love.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Roy Landers was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. JoAnn Craze Landers; and his brother, John Shepard.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Deborah (Nick) Pruett, and Paula Paul; brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Carol) Landers; sister, Evelyn Hood; 4 grandchildren, Tyler Paul, Elijah (Dilyn) Paul, Charles “Coy” Pruett, and Josiah Pruett; 1 great-grandchild, Judah Paul; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
