Roy Upshaw Pickrell

Mr. Roy Upshaw Pickrell, age 81, of Winston, Georgia passed away Friday, October 23, 2009 at his home. He was born June 27, 1928 in Social Circle, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Willie Joe Pickrell and the late Mrs. Lillie Mae Aaron Pickrell. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a lab technician for the Georgia Department of Agriculture. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hughes Pickrell; and brothers, Isaac Pickrell and Thomas Pickrell. He is survived by his daughter, Emily Brayton of Winston; sister, Mildred Clay of Covington; grandson, Phillip Price; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, October 26, 2009 at 2:30 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Heil officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Sunday, October 25, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
