Mrs. Ruby Wilson Parson Gober, age 85, of Douglasville, Georgia passed through the veil into eternal rest on Monday, May 12, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her children and most of her grandchildren. She was born April 24, 1923, daughter of the late James M. and Lena T. Wilson. Mrs. Gober was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church since 1975. She was a hairdresser for over 50 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, shopping, quilting, and teaching her grandchildren good values. She loved teaching her granddaughters how to cook homemade biscuits. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a Proverbs 31 woman devoting her time to her faith in God and her beloved family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Obie Robert Parson. Surviving to grieve her loss is her husband, Herman E. Gober; her sons and daughters, J. Robert and Nancy Parson of Whitesburg, Anthony and Sheryl Parson of Lithia Springs, Brenda and Rev. Danny Moody of Douglasville, Ronald and Lynne Parson of Whitesburg, Cathy Parson of Douglasville and Tracy Parson of Wedowee, Alabama; grandchildren, Keith Moody, Ron Parson, David and Marie Parson, Tim and Rebecca Parson, John Parson, Wendee (Williams) and James Shook, Sherri (Parson) and Chris Webb, Kevin Moody, Ashley Hunter-Jones, and Joshua and Darla Parson; 22 great-grandchildren; stepson, Doug and Freida Gober of Woodstock; step grandchildren, Ron Newsom, Brandy Barton, Tiffani Bagby, Jennifer Rayburn, Julie Hoff. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Tuesday, May 13, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Danny B. Moody and her grandson, Joshua Parson officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 1:30 PM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers: Keith, Ron, David, Tim, John, and Kevin.
