Mrs. Ruth Cary Garner, 91, of Temple, Georgia passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was born October 28, 1925 in Birmingham, Alabama the daughter of the late Mr. William Orville Cary and the late Mrs. Bessie Mae Smith. For many years she worked as an Executive Secretary for the government and then later at Cooper Lighting. She was an artist at heart, painting many beautiful art pieces. She also enjoyed crafts. She lived an active life style, enjoying bowling, roller skating, square dancing, and tap dancing. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Devoted to her family, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a Christian by Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard M. Garner; a son, Butch Garner; brother, Gordon Cary; and sisters, Lucille McNair, Martha Capps, and Jenny Bell. She is survived by five daughters and their spouses, Sandi and Jack Gaines of Marietta, Sharon Wiggins and Robert Smith of Villa Rica, Becky and Tim Wood of Temple, Bonnie Bedwell of Douglasville, and Pamela Baskette and Jerry Gulley of Dallas; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and numerous additional family members. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Jerry Gulley and Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs. Those desiring to do so may make memorial contributions in her memory to the Dementia Organization of your choice.
