Mrs. Ruth Jackson, age 84, of Douglasville passed away March 6, 2024. She was born March 23, 1939 in Centralhatchee, GA to the late Mr. Lonnie Ben Neighbors and the late Mrs. Alma Crockett.
Ruth was a cherished wife, mother, and friend to many. Ruth had a passion for cooking, and she was renowned for her excellent country dishes. Her specialty was green beans and biscuits that were always a hit among family and friends. Ruth enjoyed her church family and loved working with children. She often opened her home for Sunday night Redbook singings, where she would share her love for music by singing and playing the piano with those around her. In addition to her skills in the kitchen and music. Ruth had a green thumb and took great pleasure in tending to her garden. She also had a talent for sewing and made clothes for her children. It was while she was plowing in a cotton field where Mr. Jackson asked her out on their first date with whom she shared many beautiful years. Ruth's warm smile and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her surviving family members including her daughter, relatives and friends. While we mourn the loss of Ruth from our lives, we take comfort in knowing that her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Christopher David Jackson; brothers, Harvey Neighbors, Glen Neighbors; sisters, Grace Purvis, Jeanette Williams.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Charles Edward Jackson; daughter, Gloria Denise Jackson of Douglasville; sister in law, Jackie Neighbors; numerous nieces and nephews.
