Sammy Joe Tolbert, age 76, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 at Carrollton Nursing and Rehab in Carrollton, Georgia. Mr. Tolbert was born September 24, 1931 in Gadsden, Alabama, the son of the late Mr. Samuel James Tolbert and the late Mrs. Rosetta Winkles Tolbert. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tolbert was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Rose Clifton Tolbert; his brothers, Charles Thomas Tolbert, Ronnie Tolbert, and Benjamin Tolbert; his half-brothers, LeRoy Tolbert, Morris Tolbert, Bill Tolbert and Danny Tolbert; his sisters, Lizzie McElroy and Betty Joyce Tolbert; and half-sister, Sarah Spray. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and David Wells of Rockmart; his sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Vickie Tolbert of Carrollton and Randy and Nina Tolbert of Cedartown; sisters, Clara Summerville of Temple, Jeanette Cannon of Lithia Springs and Wilma Puckett of Carrollton; half-sister, Mary Waddell of Carrollton; brother Robert Tolbert of Temple; half-brothers, Ed Tolbert of Carrollton, Wayne Tolbert of Temple and Joe Tolbert of Carrollton; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Dr. Corky Addison officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Tolbert, Brandon Tolbert, Bryce Hicks, Heath McBrayer, David Wells and Chris Kimbrell. Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Wednesday, September 3, 2008 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM.
