Mrs. Sara Christine Cain McKenney, 88, of Athens, Georgia passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016. She was born January 10, 1928 in Tucker, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. Elmer Luke Cain and the late Mrs. Dovie Mae Hazleriggs Cain. She received her Registered Nurse degree at Crawford Long School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Crawford Long Hospital, Piedmont Hospital, and the Douglas County Health Department. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved crafts, especially ceramics. She enjoyed canning and making jellies. She was a member of the Douglasville Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Jackson McKenney Jr.; sisters, Montine Palenski, Opal Christian, Jean Brand, Martha Bramlett, and Mary Hanson; brothers, Eldon Cain, Hollis Cain, and Glenn Cain. She is survived by her daughter, Chris Jackson of Winder; son and daughter-in-law, Roy Jackson McKenney III and his wife, Kathy of Douglasville; brother and sister-in-law, James and Karen Cain of Gwinnett County; six grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher Jackson of Winder, Tim and Michelle Jackson of Jefferson, Heather and David Albertson of Mississippi, Roy J. McKenney IV and his wife, Kim of Delaware, Elmer Luke McKenney of Alabama, Ansley and Jordan Wood of Kennesaw; eight great-grandchildren, Sidney Jackson, Savannah Jackson, Scarlett Jackson, Alice Jackson, Rowan Albertson, Lucas Banks Albertson, Roy Jackson McKenney V, and Eliza Wood; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Friday, June 17, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville.
