Mrs. Sarah Jane Youngblood New, 84, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Friday, March 11, 2016. She was born February 5, 1932 in Hiawassee, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Taft Youngblood and the late Mrs. Annie Mae Stamey Youngblood. She married Bobby J. New on August 23, 1953 in Atlanta. She retired from the Douglas County Board of Education having served as a teacher for many years. She was devoted to family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an avid reader, especially enjoyed her time spent reading the Holy Bible. She loved music. She was talented at knitting and crocheting. Mrs. New was a Southern Baptist and a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglasville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Bobby J. New of Lithia Springs; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Jimmy Lester of Whitesburg, Debbie and Ricky Hunter, Cindy New, and Leila and Doug Jones all of Douglasville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Terri New of Winston and Bob and Sue New of Lithia Springs; three sisters, Lois Acree of Griffin, Claudine Williams of Alabama, and Barbara George of Rockmart; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William Thompson of Fairplay, Michael and Wanda Thompson of Douglasville, and Timmy and Rita Thompson of Villa Rica; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, March 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Douglasville with Dr. Jimmy Lester and Dr. John Pennington officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Ricky Hunter and Wendy Agan. She will lie in state at the church on Monday, March 14, 2016 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
