Sarah Pitman

PITMAN, Sarah Matthews, 76, of Marietta passed away November 4, 2014. Born November 14, 1937 in Villa Rica she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Pitman; parents, Joe B. and Roxie Matthews; beloved son, Robert Craig Pitman; daughter, Linda F. Pitman; brother, Spruell Matthews and his wife, Marie; nephew, Barry Land and his wife, Connie, as well as, in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Jason Pitman. Sarah retired from AT&T after 28 years and gained lifelong friendships with countless numbers of colleagues. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Veitch and her husband, Jackie of Villa Rica; daughter, Sandra Lee Pitman of Pinellas Park, FL; grandson, A.J. “Artie” Russo and his wife, Alisa; great-grandchildren, Victoria and Marcus Russo, and Lane Griffin all of Tampa, FL; one niece and numerous nephews, as well as, dearest friends and helpers, Rita Fountain and Sheila Caldwell. A Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Concord Baptist Church with Pastor Don Rackley officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 until 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers, her nephews, Jackie Vietch Jr., Jody Veitch, Tommy, Tracy and Tony Matthews and Harold Davis. The family wishes to thank her friends and her traveling buddies met through her efforts toward JttC.
