Mrs. Sarah Frances Gilstrap Queen, 82, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, following a long battle with Alzheimer âs disease. She was born June 12, 1932 in Austell, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. John E. Gilstrap and the late Mrs. Birdie Ledford Gilstrap. She was of the Baptist Faith and was a homemaker. She loved spending time and taking care of her grandchildren, along with dancing to her country music collection, tending her flowers, and sitting outside enjoying the sunshine with a cold beverage. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Hamilton Queen; son, Marion Lamar Queen; and brothers, Harold Gilstrap and Richard Gilstrap. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Janice and Ed Smith of Lithia Springs and Rebecca Haney of Douglasville; two sisters, Betty Ruth Shuler of Villa Rica and Sylvia Holder of Douglasville; one brother, Eugene Gilstrap of Sanford, FL; eight grandchildren, Dana Pettigrew, Traci Irby, Kevin Haney, Kymberly Haney, Tina Steffens, Shannon Queen, Kayla Queen, and Maria Smith Hartsel; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, August 3, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Donald Voyles officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville. The following will serve as pallbearers: Ed Smith, Kevin Haney, Derek Pettigrew, Tim Steffens, Ricky Shuler and David Shuler.
