Sharon Douglas "Doug" Hembree

Sharon Douglas “Doug” Hembree, 71, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. Mr. Hembree was born April 9, 1937 in Douglas County, Georgia; the son of the late J.G. Hembree and the late Eva Gardner Hembree. On June 29, 1958 he married, Avis Streetman of Villa Rica. Mr. Hembree worked as a builder and a developer and was instrumental in developing and bringing Arbor Place Mall to Douglasville. Mr. Hembree was a charter member of Villa Rica Lions Club and also a charter member of Douglas County Builders Association where he served as President in 1967 and 1968. He organized First National Bank of Douglasville, and was a board member. He was also a board member of the Bank of Villa Rica and later served on the boards for Regions Bank and C & S Bank. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica where he was a member of the Unity Sunday School class and served on various committees including the Building and Grounds Committee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Garner. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty years, Avis Streetman Hembree of Villa Rica; daughters and sons in-law, Diane and James Hembree of Winston; and Denise and Chris Seckinger of Villa Rica; sister, Kathryn Hembree of Villa Rica; brother, Earl Hembree of Lineville, AL; six grandchildren, Ned and Julia Hembree, Clay Hembree, Will Hembree, Luke Seckinger, Dylan Seckinger, and Jon Seckinger; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 1:00 PM from First Baptist Church of Villa Rica with Rev. Jeff Jones and Dr. J.B. Marlow officiating. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Dennie Ray, and the Unity Sunday School Class members. Active Pall Bearers will be Ned Hembree, Clay Hembree, Will Hembree, Luke Seckinger, Dylan Seckinger, Dr. Larry Boss, Larry Boggs, and Mike Gantt. Interment will follow at Glenn Memorial Park in Villa Rica. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Friday, August 1, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
