Sharon Kay Edwards Speak, 81, of Douglasville, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. She was born on May 25, 1944, the daughter of the late Lt. Colonel Eugene Bissel Whaley and the late Amy Alliphair Mitchell Whaley.

She was a devoted nurse and she dedicated her career to caring for others at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, where her compassion and expertise touched the lives of countless patients and their families.

Sharon was not only a professional known for her nurturing spirit, but she also found great joy in her personal life. She cherished her family deeply, particularly her beloved grandchildren, with whom she enjoyed traveling and creating lasting memories. Her love and commitment to her family were evident in every facet of her life.

She was an member of the West Metro Church of God, where she found community and connection among those who shared her faith. Beyond her commitments to family, Sharon was part of a group of individuals who would regularly gather for fun and fellowhip.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard G. Speak; children, Mitchell Allen Edwards and Kathy Bentley; grand-daughter, Emma Grace Edwards; sister, Mona Orick; brothers, Richard Whaley and Gene Whaley.

She is survived by her children, Bryan and Heather Edwards of Douglasville, Donovan and Cathy Edwards of Villa Rica, Marshall and Nicole Edwards of Statesboro, Scott and Daniele Edwards of Canton, Amanda and Ed Deloach of Villa Rica, Celena Jones of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Mitchell Edwards (Brandie), Mathew Edwards (Danielle) Courtney Ellerbee (Bonn), Cassidy Tarrant (Matthew), Van Edwards, Nate Edwards, Laykon Edwards, Gabriel Edwards, Aiden Edwards, Katarina Edwards, Ethan Edwards, Landon Edwards, Logan Edwards, Richard Caldwell, Taylor Caldwell, Danielle Arrington (Michael), Tiffany Crews (Adam) and Izzy Jones; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Eryn, Brynn, Skyler, Zoe, Emmie, Evie, and Gabe; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel with funeral services at 3:00 Pm with Pastor Glen Rountree officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Garden of Memories.
