Sherrill “Sherry” Anne Linville Stanford, 82, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on August 29, 2025. She was born on February 20, 1943, the daughter of the late James Dixon Finch and the late Priscilla Anne Mason.

Sherrill dedicated her life to her family and community, with an unwavering spirit that touched the lives of many around her.

Sherrill’s vibrant personality shone through in all her endeavors. She spent several fulfilling years as a devoted Girl Scout. She stayed in touch with her friends and they called themselves "Granny Scouts." Her passion for nurturing young minds was paralleled only by her exceptional skills as a seamstress, where her creativity came alive. She drew joy from her love of reading, diving into various genres with a particular fondness for fiction and mystery, immersing herself in worlds woven by words.

Music resonated deeply within Sherrill; she cherished all kinds, allowing her to connect with others and uplift her spirit. A natural shopper, she reveled in the art of finding the perfect treasure, and her adventurous heart led her to travels to memorable places, including England and beautiful beaches.

Known for her sweet demeanor, Sherrill was a loving and supportive presence in the lives of her family and friends. Her strong-willed nature served her well throughout her journey, as she faced life's challenges with grace and fortitude.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert Anderson Stanford; sister, Danna Freeman; and brother, Daniel Linville.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Larry) Jenkins, Elizabeth “Beth” Dunton; sister, Susan Stefanovic; grandchild, Charlie Stanford; two nieces, Jennifer Shelnutt and Melissa Schultz; and one nephew, Matthew Bailey.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel.

Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 4:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel.

In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated, and interment services will follow at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA, at a later date.

Sherrill leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and inspiration. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
