Shirley Anne Washington, age 83, passed away on April 26, 2024. Shirley was born on February 19, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Mr. Thomas Feagin and the late Mrs. Lois Jones Feagin.
Shirley was known for her outgoing and bubbly personality, as well as her firm and strong-willed nature. She was a beloved executive secretary in education. Throughout her life, Shirley pursued her career with passion and dedication. One of Shirley's greatest joys in life and proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. Beyond her professional accomplishments and family life, Shirley found joy in traveling and had a deep appreciation for the beach. She had the opportunity to visit beautiful destinations such as the Island of Capri in Italy and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
Shirley is predeceased by her former husbands, Eugene Cannon Jr. and John L. Washington; parents, Thomas Feagin and Lois Jones Feagin; siblings, Charles Edward Feagin and William James Feagin; child, Eugene Cannon III; and grandchildren, Demetri Mitchell and Andrew Mitchell.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, Rosalynne (James) Stevenson, Valerie (Isaac) Cannon Bush, and Kenneth (Kristal) Cannon; grandchildren, Earl Cannon, Kenielle Cannon, Kierra Cannon, Kenisha Cannon, Kenneth Cannon Jr., Kejuan Cannon, Corey Stevenson; great-grandchildren, Journee, Skye, Kordell, Lorenzo III, Mya, Mila, Ricky III and Keyani. Additionally, she is survived by several nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. The memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM with Reverend Jeff Moore III officiating.
