Shirley Smallwood

Mrs. Shirley Ann White Smallwood, 81, of Villa Rica passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Mrs. Smallwood was born June 27, 1937, in Temple, GA to the late Mr. Jonathan Peyton White and the late Mrs. Bessie Boone White. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, and a member of the Bremen Church of Christ. Mrs. Smallwood graduated from Temple High School in 1955 and married her husband Richard Smallwood, of Villa Rica, in 1956. In 1961, she began working for Dr. Guy Davis, DDS in Villa Rica and later received her dental hygiene license in 1972. She worked as a hygienist until her retirement in 2002. Mrs. Smallwood loved to cook, sew and spend time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Philip Richard Smallwood; brothers, Aaron White, Buel White, and Leon White; sisters, Erlene Wright and Betty McClendon. She is survived by her husband, Mr. James Richard Smallwood of Villa Rica; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Keith Harris of Jonesboro; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Kelli Smallwood of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Amber Smallwood and Wayne Korbl of Carrollton, Ashley and Tom Jennings of Louisville, KY, Ansley and Brad Willis of Fayetteville, Allison and Scott Carter of Brookhaven, Logan Philip Smallwood of Villa Rica and Brady Luke Smallwood of Villa Rica; great grandchildren, Kevin Korbl, Dalton Jennings, Eden Jennings, Knox Willis, Everly Willis, Harris Carter and Jackson Carter; sisters, Helen Gray of Carrollton and Joice Maddox of Carrolton; brother, Buddy White of Carrollton; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donation be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
