Shirley Tanner

Shirley Estella Daugherty Tanner Mrs. Shirley Estella Daugherty Tanner, age 76, of Villa Rica passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011. She was born June 21, 1935 in Etowah, Alabama the daughter of the late Mr. C. N. Daugherty and the late Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Gattis Daugherty. She retired from West Georgia College and from the Villa Rica Public Library. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica where she was a greeter and loved sending cards to members. She served as officer for her Sunday school class, New Life and served on various church committees. Mrs. Tanner was very active in ministry to the sick and needy and also served on the Grievance Committee. She is survived by her husband, Edward E. Tanner of Villa Rica; son, Mike Edward Tanner of Villa Rica; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald R. and Nancy Daugherty of Cedartown, Richard Gary and Patsy Daugherty of Cedartown. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted, Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Villa Rica with Rev. Jeff Powell officiating and the eulogies by Kerry Miller and Gary Thomas. Entombment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica with Rev. Jon Price officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica. The Honorary escort will be the New Life Sunday School Class and The Unity Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica. The music will by Rev. Ben Pilgreen and the trio His Mark. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica Monday, August 15, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
