Shirley Anne Wilkerson, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on November 11, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born on January 30, 1945, in Polk County, Georgia, to the late Mr. Lihugh Pope and the late Mrs. Dora Powell Pope.
Shirley had an outgoing spirit and was often described as an individual who never met a stranger. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcomed and treasured. Her loving nature and heart of gold created lasting bonds with friends. Shirley became known for her good cooking, much to the delight of her family.
As a true family-oriented woman, Shirley’s proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly her grandchild, who was the light of her life. She found joy in nurturing her nieces and nephews, showering them with love and wisdom.
Outside of her nurturing role at home, Shirley enjoyed fishing and shopping. Whether she was casting a line into the water or navigating through aisles with her signature smile, Shirley embraced every moment with gratitude.
As we gather to remember and celebrate Shirley’s life, we recall the laughter she shared, the meals she prepared, and the love she generously offered. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts, a radiant example of the love that binds families together and the memories that bring us comfort in times of loss.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 63 years, Mr. Willard Wilkerson; daughter, Melissa Hubbard and her husband Tony; grandchild, Elizabeth Hubbard; brother, Jimmy Pope and his wife Nellie; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friend, Ms. Shirley Wright.
