Stanley Lee Raburn, 96, of Temple, Georgia passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Haralson Nursing and Rehab Center in Bremen, Georgia. Mr. Raburn was born September 6, 1912 in Haralson County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Wiley Raburn and the late Mrs. Ada Westbrook Raburn. Mr. Raburn was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was an avid reader, since the age of 9, of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, especially enjoying the sports, current events and organic gardening sections. Mr. Raburn raised cattle and worked at Delmar Cabinet Company. He was a member of Liberty Christian Church in Temple. In addition to his parents, Mr. Raburn was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Sara Lou Raburn; his son, Jack Kittle; his brother, Jack Raburn; and his sisters, Charlsie Smith and Willie R. Pope. Survivors include his daughters, Sheila Raburn Balega and Janice Talley, both of Temple; his son, Jimmy C. Kittle of Bowden; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and one nephew, Douglas Raburn. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, April 6, 2009 at 2:00 PM from Liberty Christian Church in Temple with Rev. Tom Howard officiating. Mr. Raburn will lie in state at the church from 1:00PM until the funeral hour. Musical selections will be rendered by Janice Akin and Rev. Tom Howard. Serving as pallbearers will be Brent Kittle, James Kittle, Terry Shaw, Steve Agan, Scott Norton and Will Coyle. Interment will follow at Liberty Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Sunday, April 5, 2009 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made In Memory of Mr. Stanley Lee Raburn to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30329.
