Stephen H. Sudduth, CMSgt, Retired, USAF, age 73, of Villa Rica passed away Friday, December 15, 2023. He was born June 21, 1950 in Villa Rica to the late Mr. John H. Sudduth and the late Mrs. Genelle Sudduth.
From an early age, Steve possessed a zest for life that was truly infectious. As a student at Villa Rica High School, Steve engaged in various activities and excelled academically. After graduating in 1969, he was drafted into the US Army and was sent to Vietnam where he served as a Combat Medic. After returning to the states, he set out on a path that would become an extraordinary journey that continued his military career for thirty seven years, with retiring as Chief of Medical Services. Throughout his accomplished military career, he demonstrated unwavering bravery and selflessness.
While Steve held his military service close to his heart, it was his family that brought him the greatest joy. He cherished his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with every beat of his heart. His love for them knew no bounds, and he always put their needs above his own. In addition to his loving family, Steven was an active member of First Baptist Church Villa Rica, where he enjoyed serving in the choir and treasured being a part of the Helping Hands Life Group. He found solace in his faith and enjoyed being surrounded by his church family.
Over Steve’s lifetime he thoroughly enjoyed many hobbies, dirt bike racing, golf, bass fishing and most recently vegetable gardening, and Friday night wings.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Sudduth.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost thirty years, Mrs. Priscilla Sudduth of Villa Rica; daughters, Lori (Rodney) Craig of Winston, Brandi Jones of Villa Rica, Tonia (Luiz) Ferreira, Temple; son, Bryan (Bethany) Sudduth of Rockmart; grandchildren, Alicia Locke, Shane Sudduth, Kenny Vaden, Kalob Jones, Jacob Jones, Lane Sudduth, Rachel Jones and Andrew Sudduth; great grandchildren, Spencer, Payton, Raylan, Kimberlyn, Karley, Libbie, Kouvr and Triston; sister Debbie (Richard) Bailey of Carrollton; sister-in-law, Gail Sudduth; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Villa Rica with Dr. Kevin Williams officiating. The interment will take place on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
