Terry Neal Keaton

Mr. Terry Neal Keaton, age 70, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Keaton was born January 16, 1939 in Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Fred Keaton and the late Mrs. Lucille DeFoor Keaton. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Keaton was a veteran of the United States Army, having proudly served in Germany during the Berlin crisis. Terry worked in law enforcement for a number of years and became Chief of Police serving the last three years of his law career with the Villa Rica Police Department. He then worked with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department for several years. He was an accomplished guitarist and musician, writing and performing his own songs, and having played locally in several bands and groups. Terry played back up for Harold Shead, owner of the group Alabama, and several other well-known bands, groups and recording artists. In the early days of rock and roll, he made several recordings and was nominated for the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. In addition to his parents, Mr. Keaton was preceded in death by his son, Tony Neal Keaton. Survivors include his devoted wife, Mrs. Ann Carnes Keaton of Villa Rica; and several cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, May 25, 2009 at 2:00PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Al Ruggles officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Darwyn Summerville, Jones Wynn, Cliff Tackett, Franklin Richardson, Gary Townsend and Ronald Oldham. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Willis and Billy Adair. Entombment will follow in Chapel Mausoleum at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Sunday, May 24, 2009 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
