Thaddeus Cannon Johnson, III

Mr. Thaddeus Cannon Johnson, III, “Thad" age 82, of Douglasville, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was born on February 14, 1942 in Clinton, SC to the late Mr. Thaddeus Cannon Johnson, II and the late Mrs. Rachel Johnson.

Thad was a passionate fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and enjoyed playing golf. In addition to his sporting interests, Thad found great pleasure in gardening, where he nurtured not only plants but also a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, particularly hummingbirds, which brought him joy as he tended to his garden. He was an active member at Central Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and supported missions. He was retired from the Baptist Retirement Communities of Georgia.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Julie Willis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Sharon Johnson; daughters, Dawn Bennett of Kennesaw, Shannon (Michael) Watson of Hayesville, NC; brother, Charles (Patsy) Johnson of Rome; grandchildren, Josiah Bennett (fiancé Danielle Sands), Autumn Bennett (fiancé Matt Gresham), Elijah Bennett, Ashley (Tyler) Meyer, Austin (Hadleigh) Watson; nieces, Rachel Ann Willis, Sarah Winter.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Worship Ministry at Central Baptist Church, Douglasville, GA.

The family will receive friends at Central Baptist Church in Douglasville on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Charles Gibbs officiating.
