Thena Elizabeth Buck Shaw

Mrs. Thena Elizabeth Buck Shaw, 88, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia. She was born August 21, 1918 in Fulton County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Mr. William Henry Buck and the late Mrs. Lucy Mildred Hornesby Buck. Mrs. Shaw was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. She worked as a baker for Federal Bakery in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann L. Arnold; her sons, John David Pope and Curtis Pope; and her brother, Bertrand Buck. Survivors include her husband, Mr. Gene Travis Shaw of Villa Rica; her daughters, Marie Ethridge of Villa Rica, Ernestine Houde of Carrollton, Lorene Cunningham of Temple and Bernice Pope Summers of Temple; her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Franklin and Joan Pope of Flint, Michigan; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services will be conducted on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Georgia with Pastor Wayne Landmon officiating.
