Thomas Devon Richardson

Nov 21, 1935 — Oct 12, 2026

Douglasville, Georgia

Known as “Tom,” he was born November 21, 1935 in Rockdale County, Georgia. He passed peacefully from this life for Glory on October 12, 2026 as he was lovingly attended to by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Jean Mobley Richardson.

Remaining to cherish Tom’s memory along with his wife, Dot, are his son, Lanny and wife, Laura, his deceased son, Darrell and his living wife, Janine, and his daughter Treva Richardson. Also cherishing Tom’s life as “Pop,” are his five grandsons, Jared, Jacob and wife, Haley, Justin, Blake and wife, Ashley, Parker and fiancé, Ashli, as well as his three great grandchildren, Ezekiel, Elliott, and Georgia along with many nieces and nephews.

Tom graduated from Stone Mountain High School as Class President in 1954 where he enjoyed playing on both the Football and Basketball teams. For 43 years, he had a successful career in the Insurance Industry as Senior Claims Manager in Georgia, California, Virginia, Florida and was voted a two-time President of the Southern Loss Association.

On October 17, 1965 Tom was ordained as a Deacon at Hunting Baptist Church of Glen Allen, Virginia. As a faithful member of Pine Lake Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia, Tom served on the Pastor Search Committee, Sunday School Director, Choir, Youth Ministry, and Mission Teams from 1968-1996. Since 1997, Tom has been a member of First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs where he has served as Deacon Chairman and members of the Pastor Search Committee, Two Time Chairman of the Building Committee, Sunday School Teacher, and member of the Choir and Mission Teams.

Tom’s living faith was also evident as he served many years with the Douglasville Gideons and the Greater Atlanta Christina Cursillo Movement as Rector of #54 and member of many other weekend teams.

To the family and friends Tom leaves behind, he would say, “Look into the heavens and perhaps what you see are not stars, but rather lights from where my love for you shines down upon you to let you know that I am happy where I am here in heaven with Jesus and other loved ones!”
