Thomas Jacob Fern

Mr. Thomas Jacob Fern, age 89, of Winston, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 He was born November 20, 1934 in Chicago, IL to the late Mr. William Fern and the late Mrs. Margaret Fern. He was a loving son, devoted husband, cherished father, doting grandfather, great grandfather and trusted friend. A man of many interests, Thomas found joy on the golf course where he shared countless memorable moments with friends and family. His passion for sports extended beyond the golf course. Thomas was an avid supporter of the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Tech, and the Atlanta Falcons. Travel was another passion that brought immense joy to Thomas's life. Whether sailing on cruises or embarking on road trips to Biloxi. Beyond his hobbies and interests, Thomas cherished time spent with family above all else.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, William Fern; sister, Leah Tate.

He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Janet Fern of Winston; daughters, Kathy (John) Houston of Cumming, GA, Pam Barton of Marietta, GA; sons, Tom (Ethel) Fern of Clarksville, GA, Tim (Pam) Fern of Hiram, GA, Scott (Sherryl) Fern of Alamogordo, NM, Greg (Michelle) Lanzi of Brighton, MI, Chris Lanzi of Lawrenceville, GA and Michael Lanzi of Gulf Breeze, FL; sister, Jean Schumaker of Addison, IL; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Faile officiating. The interment will take place on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
