Mr. Thomas E. Henderson, age 68, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Friday, September 27, 2013, with his family by his side, following a long battle with cancer. Born on June 21, 1945 in Johnson City, Tennessee, he was the son of the late J.S. and Violet Gobble Henderson. Thomas was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corp. He attended Science Hill High School before joining the service. On November 13, 1974, he married Betty Hopson in Burnsville, North Carolina. He worked as a plumber and in construction for the Atlanta Journal Constitution and was Baptist by faith. Thomas in preceded in death by his father Sherman Henderson and mother Violet G. Henderson, several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He leaves behind his wife of 39 years Betty Hopson Henderson; Son Henry Henderson and Daughter-in-law Pennie, Stepson, Jamie Coffman, Grandchildren Brandi, Rose and Draco Henderson. Also his Sisters, Martha Bower and her husband Jimmy, Mary Stettner and husband, William, his Brothers Wilbur Henderson and wife Laura and Dwight Henderson. He also leaves his faithful dog and companion Chili, one Uncle Hobert Gobble, several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Great Nephews, and Cousins. Thomas loved his family and Atlanta Braves Baseball as well as playing Bingo. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. He was truly an inspiration to those around him to keep fighting and do not give up. He was a hard worker and strong believer in finishing the job at hand. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Monday, September 30, 2013 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, September 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. Interment and Graveside Services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 1:00 PM at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corp Honor Guard.
