Thomas Garland Herron, age 92, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on July 13, 2024. He was born on July 22, 1931, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Mrs. Ila Mae Herron Blanton.
Thomas had a remarkable personality that endeared him to all who knew him. With a good sense of humor and a heartwarming smile, he never met a stranger. His social nature made him a pillar of strength within his community and a cherished companion to his loved ones. Thomas was a man of many talents and passions, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to collect pigs, watch the Andy Griffith show, and he could often be found fishing, playing penny poker, cutting his grass or playing the harmonica.
In addition to his hobbies and interests, Thomas dedicated a part of his life to serving in the Army National Guard. His commitment to his country was admirable, reflecting his deep sense of duty and honor. His devotion knew no bounds, he loved his wife and family dearly,
In addition to his mother, Thomas was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Edna Dot Herron.
He is survived by his sons, David (Wanda) Herron, Thomas (Karen) Herron; daughter, Tina Morgan; grandchildren, Keisha (Troy) Manies, Joanna (Christian) Davis, Justin (Katie) Herron, and Natasha (Brian) Noblitt; great-grandchildren, Brandon Moulton, Mia Davis, Christina Flores and Gabriela Flores; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Chapel in Douglasville. The interment will follow at Sunrise Gardens of Memories in Douglasville.
