Mr. Thomas Howell Caldwell, Jr., age 75, of Douglasville, Georgia, known as âBig Tomâ, former owner of the Carroll Road Shoppette in Villa Rica, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Good Neighbor Assisted Living in Douglasville, Georgia. He was born August 9, 1934 in Fulton County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Thomas Howell Caldwell, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mary Catherine OâLeary Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Bell Caldwell and his children, Charles Thomas Caldwell, Teresa Lynn Spear and Mary Gladys Caldwell. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Lewis and Eva Caldwell of Temple and Patrick Anthony and Wendy Caldwell of Powder Springs, his sisters, Joan Hicks of Fayetteville and Patricia Hutchenson of Griffin; his brother, Mike Caldwell of Fayetteville; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 11:00AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglasville, Georgia. Interment will follow in Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton, Georgia.
