Thomas Franklin Latimer, 83, of Villa Rica, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026. He was born on December 15, 1942, the son of the late Franklin Latimer and the late Frances Waller Latimer.
Tommy lived a life characterized by kindness, and a passion for learning. Tommy attended Georgia Tech and later, he dedicated many years of his career to Lockheed and later retired from Norfolk Southern. His professional life was marked by a commitment to excellence and a strong work ethic. He attended First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, where he attended Sunday School classes taught by Dr. Boss.
Tommy loved his son Matt, and they enjoyed playing golf together. He was also a passionate fisherman and a member of the Bass Fishing Club in Temple.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet Edwards Latimer.
He is survived by his son, Matt Latimer of Smyrna; nieces and nephews, Lori (Dean) Johnson, Traci (Dan) Black of Woodstock, Terri Latimer (Marshall Painter) of Roswell, and Jeff Edwards of California; brother and sister-in-law, Ted (Cindy) Latimer of Roswell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Judy Edwards of Carrollton; several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel with funeral services at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
