Thomas Russell Stanford, 90, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on September 17, 2025. He was born on November 29, 1934, the son of the late L. B. Stanford Sr. and the late Susie Mae Holland Stanford.
Tom dedicated his life to his family, community, and career. A distinguished 82nd Airborn Army Veteran, Tom served with honor and pride before embarking on a successful career as a Logistics Manager for Xerox. His colleagues knew him as a meticulous and organized professional, qualities that mirrored his approach to life.
Tom was not only a devoted worker but also a true family man. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. For 70 remarkable years, he was married to his beloved spouse, whose companionship brought him immense joy and love. Together, they traveled extensively, with special fondness for cruises and beach destinations, particularly St. Augustine. Tom's character was defined by his kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit. He was known for his quiet strength, never displaying anger and always ready with a funny quip or light-hearted joke—a true “cut-up” at heart.
In his free time, Tom found joy in a variety of activities. An avid golfer, he could often be found on the golf course, enjoying the game he loved. His commitment to his faith was evident through his membership in the church choir, where he shared his beautiful voice with the congregation. Tom also participated in the Men's Breakfast at Church, fostering friendships and community bonds over shared meals and conversations. Every morning, he embraced the day with a morning walk at the mall, demonstrating his dedication to health and vitality.
Tom took pride in his home and yard, where he carried out his yard work with great care and attention to detail. His meticulous nature ensured that his surroundings were as welcoming as his spirit. Friends and family will remember him for his warmth, generosity, and the love he radiated to all who knew him.
