Mr. Thurston Fuller Goodwin, 94, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 31, 1922 in Alpharetta, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. John Hugh Goodwin and the late Mrs. Edna Woods Goodwin Wood. He was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II and was stationed in Italy and Germany. He married Rudie Bamba Adderhold on April 9, 1945 in Canton. He retired from the City of Atlanta Road Department following 50 years of service. He was a very good man, a strict but a good father. He was an avid outdoorsman, whom loved to deer hunt and turkey hunt. He enjoyed time spent in the garden growing vegetables and his beloved cat âFriskyâ followed him around the garden. He was a member of Campbellton Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Goodwin; sister, Ovelle Burke; brothers, Ray Goodwin, Aubrey Goodwin and Everett Goodwin. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Rudie Bamba Adderhold Goodwin of Lithia Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Sidney Southards of Lithia Springs; and Rebecca and Samuel Templeman of Hampton; daughter-in-law, Tina Goodwin of Monroe; brother and sister-in-law, Louie and Jan Goodwin of Arizona; sister-in-law, Ruby Goodwin of Douglasville; six grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Virgil Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Goodwin may be made to Homestead Hope Foundation, 10888 Crabapple Road, Roswell, Georgia 30075.
