Mr. Tommie Kenneth âT.K.â Rainey, age 60, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at his home following a brief illness. He was born February 24, 1949, the son of the late Mr. Tommie King Rainey and the late Mrs. Mary Aline Newell Rainey. He was a devoted member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, currently serving as the chairman of the deacon board. He was the Senior Menâs Sunday School Teacher, and served on various church committees. He began his career in 1967 with the Georgia Department of Public Safety as a summer radio operator for the Georgia State Patrol, Post 4, in Villa Rica. He later served as the Chief Radio Operator for Troop D and was promoted to Communications Coordinator for North Georgia for the Georgia State Patrol. He was responsible for organizing and coordinating law enforcement communications for such major events as the Democratic National Convention, the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, the Super Bowl and several natural disasters. After retirement he began his ministry to those in the community by working at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home as a funeral service attendant. He was a Past Master of the Villa Rica Lodge #72 F&AM and served on the Villa Rica Bicentennial Committee. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Daughtry Rainey of Villa Rica; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Heather Rainey and Kyle and Shelley Rainey all of Villa Rica; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, May 15, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Dr. Jerry Brown and Rev. Ronnie Puckett officiating. Eulogies will be given by Mr. Jerry Parks, Ms. Mikki Daughtry, and Mrs. Shelley Rainey. Musical Selections will be provided by the Flat Rock Baptist Church Choir. Entombment will follow at the Meadowbrook Memory Gardens Chapel Mausoleum. The following will serve as pallbearers: Mr. Danny Camp, Mr. Garry Smallwood, Mr. Jerry Parks, Mr. Allen Tyson, Mr. Mike Daughtry, and Mr. Derek Watson. Honorary escorts will be active and retired members of the Georgia State Patrol, the Senior Menâs Sunday School Class, and members of the Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Family. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 14, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mr. Rainey may be made to the Flat Rock Baptist Church Building Fund, 961 Flat Rock Road, Villa Rica, Georgia 30180.
