Mr. Tommy Lee Whitehead, 62, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, September 29, 2008. He was born February 19, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was Baptist by Faith. He worked for many years at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Doraville and at his retirement was working for Deco Star in Carrollton. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Junior Whitehead and mother, Mildred Dorothy Sweat Whitehead Taylor; and his brother, Earl Leroy Whitehead. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Potts Whitehead of Douglasville; his daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy Lynne and Mark McGraw of Milwaukee, WI, Lisa and Matt Wilson of Douglasville, Saundra LaRonda and Craig Caldwell of Marietta, and Valerie Lucille and Eddie Bartlett of Douglasville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Jean and Donald Day of McDonough and Judy and David McCrackin of Covington; 7 grandchildren, Timothy, Cassaundra, Austin, Cory, Jessica, Brandon, and Kathaeryn; 2 great-grandchildren, Ayden and Alyssa; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 10:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Williams officiating. Interment and Graveside Service will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Wednesday, October 1, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
