Tony Joe Tyson, 72, of Villa Rica passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. He was born on June 2, 1952 in Villa Rica, GA, son of Ethyleen Tyson and the late Joe Tyson.
Tony was a 1970 graduate of Douglas County Highschool and retired from Greystone Power in 2017. He was member of Utopia Baptist Church and a true believer in Jesus Christ. He was a man of great kindness and selflessness, renowned for his unwavering dedication to others and for always putting their needs before his own. His family held a special place in his heart and he cherished the time spent with his nieces and nephews, creating memories filled with laughter and love. Tony’s selfless nature and generous spirit touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.
A true sports enthusiast, Tony was an avid golfer, celebrated for his skill on the course as he won many tournaments and awards throughout his golfing career. He had a deep passion for the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, and the Atlanta Falcons, often sharing his excitement for these teams with family and friends. In addition to his love for sports, Tony found joy in gardening and took pride in maintaining a clean and beautiful yard. He relished the simple and reflective pleasures of life, such as enjoying classic television shows, among them were "The Andy Griffith Show,” “Star Trek” and "Leave it to Beaver." Tony exhibited a warmth and compassion that made him a wonderful caregiver to his beloved mother.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ola Mae McCullough and Rev. Clifford Tyson; maternal grandparents, Eunice and Alice Mae Blair.
He is survived by his mother Ethyleen Tyson of Villa Rica, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ted and Susan Tyson, Tim and Le Ann Tyson, and Terry Tyson all of Villa Rica; sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Bert Eaton of Piedmont, South Carolina; nieces and nephews, Kimberly and Matt Davis, Aaron Kluge, Karmen Kluge, Stacy and Eric Truitt, Jessica and David Howell; five great-nieces and nephews.
Tony Joe Tyson will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, love for family, and zest for life will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Villa Rica Chapel of Jones-Wynn, with Rev. Kevin Kersey officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
The following will serve as pallbearers: David Howell, Eric Truitt, Bert Eaton, Joe Willoughby, Dany Gaines and Aaron Kluge.
