Master Sergeant Virgil Jesse “IKE” Eisenmann (Retired Air Force), age 82, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at a local hospital. Master Sergeant “IKE” Eisenmann was born in Oakville, Iowa on May 4, 1940, to Jesse and Bertha Rauhaus Eisenmann.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sister-in-law, Dave and Kay Eisenmann, Paul Eisenmann, Dale Eisenmann, and Harry Eisenmann.
Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth Barden Eisenmann, of 58 years; daughter Sherri Kelley of Villa Rica; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Melissa Eisenmann of Douglasville, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Elaine Eisenmann and Loretta Eisenmann; five grandchildren, Regan Newell, Jordan Cooke, Brent Eisenmann, Emily Kelley and Beau Kelley; two great grandchildren, Ari Martinez and Luke Eisenmann.
Ike was a proud, retired, US Veteran, having served nine years in the US Navy and fourteen years in the US Airforce. While in the Navy, he served as a Jet Engine Mechanic and co-pilot. He served as S.O.A.P LAB, N.D.I. Inspector and flight engineer for C5 at Dover Delaware and across the country. He served in the Vietnam War and volunteered for two tours. Ike loved to ride motorcycles and was a Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructor for the military, Dekalb College and Harley Davidson of Atlanta.. He also worked as a truck driver instructor for several years. Ike worked for Lockheed in NDI and as a Bailiff for Douglas County for twelve years. Ike was a member of Crossroads Church in Douglasville.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM from Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 PM from Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel. Interment take place at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 10:30 AM.
