Virginia "Ginger" Whaley

Mrs. Virginia Dare Wheat "Ginger" Whaley, 84, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was born April 18, 1930 in Dalton, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. Harry Grafton Wheat and the late Mrs. Juette Z.B. Evans Wheat. She was a devoted member of Beulah Baptist Church. She was a Psalm 34:17 woman who loved her family and was devoted to God and her church family. She had a giving heart and loved people. Her family and their needs were always her mind, she was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everette M. Whaley; brother, Harold Wheat; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Charles Warmack; brother-in-law, Eugene Poe. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Gerstenberger of Lithia Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Annette Whaley of Lithia Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Randall Wilson of Lithia Springs; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Gil Trusley; sisters-in-law, Katherine Phillips and Hazel Poe; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Renee and Mark Owen, David and Tahni Gerstenberger, Anson and Nicole Wilson, Amanda and Ben Rainwater, Dustin and Amanda Wilson, Brittany and Ryan Camp, and Bryan and Amy Whaley; eleven great-grandchildren, Zachary Owen, Jacob Owen, Gregory Gerstenberger, Isabelle Camp, Emma Wilson, Valor Miller, Abigail Camp, Olivia Dare Gerstenberger, Bransyn Kate Wilson, Reed Camp, Eli Rainwater, and Sawyer Wilson; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Monday, May 5, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Beulah Baptist Church in Douglasville with Dr. Wayne Bray and her son, Reverend Lee Whaley officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 1:30 PM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs. The following will serve as pallbearers: Bryan Whaley, Anson Wilson, Dustin Wilson, David Gerstenberger, Zachary Owen, and Jacob Owen.
