Virginia H. Tidwell Spivey

Mrs. Virginia Tidwell Spivey, age 82, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice, following an extended illness. She was born December 18, 1928 in Miami, FL the daughter of the late Mr. Virgil M. Holcombe, Sr. and the late Mrs. Edith C. Holcombe Roberts. She was a member of the Douglasville Church of Christ and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and shopping with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, C.M. “Buddy” Roberts; first husband, Thomas E. “Tom” Tidwell and second husband, William “Bill” Spivey; and brother, Virgil M. Holcombe, Jr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Glynn and Robin Tidwell of Dallas; stepson and daughter-in-law, Jon and Margie Spivey of Douglasville; sisters and brother-in-law, Irene Lindsey of Villa Rica, Sue and Jack Noe of Powell, TN, Gale Poe of Centre, AL, and Vicki Davis of Boca Raton, FL; grandchildren, Glynn Tidwell II, Brian Tidwell, Kelsi Spivey, Tyler Spivey, David Tidwell and Travis Tidwell; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Minister Ron Bradshaw and Tommy Tidwell officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Monday, May 30, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
