Vivian Rakestraw Crutchfield, 84, of Lithia Springs, GA, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. She was born on December 6, 1941, the daughter of the late Almaine Harry Rakestraw and the late Almeda Lois Metcalf Rakestraw.
Vivian lived a life brimming with adventure, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Vivian was known as a wonderful and faithful woman who embodied the spirit of resilience and strength. She was the rock of her family, often taking on the role of "Nannie" to not just her own grandchildren but to everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Her nurturing nature and vibrant personality left an indelible mark on those around her, making her a true "superwoman" without a cape in the eyes of many.
A passionate reader, Vivian found joy in the pages of countless books and instilled this love of literature in her family. She was also an avid traveler, holding a special affection for Alaska, where she celebrated the beauty of nature and explored its many wonders. Her adventurous spirit was unmatched, and her stories of travel and exploration inspired those who listened.
Vivian was known for her exceptional penmanship and contributed her skills to writing a book for China, displaying her talent and creativity. This dedication to her penmanship revealed her meticulous nature and love for artistic expression.
A woman who understood the importance of self-care, Vivian took pride in keeping her nails and toes beautifully decorated, a reflection of her vibrant personality and attention to detail.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, William J. Crutchfield who passed on July 15, 1999; her daughter, Angie New; brother, Richard Rakestraw, grandchildren, Tiffany Painter and Delilah Crutchfield; and nephew, Jeff Rakestraw.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Crutchfield of Lithia Springs, GA, and Tonia (Randy) Cole of Douglasville, GA; son, David (Regina) Crutchfield of Murfreesboro, TN, brother, Charles (Gloria) Rakestraw of Kennesaw, GA; seven grandchildren, Anthony Painter, Magen (Ricky) Salinas, Shay Farrar, Jeremy Crutchfield, Brynne (Jacob) Nail, Torie (Kris) Crews, and Blake Stephens; thirteen great grandchildren, Baylee Perkins, Kennedi Farrar, Vivian Farrar, Riley Crutchfield, Brelynn Nail, Brooks Nail, Eloise Crews, Khloé Crews, Keith Crews, Chevy Simmons, Wiley Simmons, Grace Simmons, and Millie Simmons; and nephews, Reed Rakestraw and Coy Rakestraw.
The family will receive family and friends for the funeral service on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Seven Springs Church, 6650 N. County Line Road, Lithia Springs, GA, 30122 with Pastor Randy Coggins II, and Minister Dennis Dewberry officiating.
Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, GA. Repass will happen after graveside at Seven Springs Church; all are welcome.
Vivian’s legacy is one of love, creativity, and determination. She will be deeply missed by all who cherished her warmth and guidance throughout her remarkable life. Her memory will continue to inspire generations, reminding all of the profound impact one remarkable woman can have on the lives of many.
