Walter Plowman Alley, 91, of Winston, GA, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025. He was born on October 23, 1934, the son of the late Harvey William Alley and the late Gertrude Mary Plowman Alley.
Walter dedicated his life not only to his beloved family but also to his long career as a bus driver, where he touched the lives of many through his daily service and dedication.
A very Godly man, Walter exemplified a kindness and warmth that radiated to all who knew him. His loving nature made him a steadfast source of support and comfort for his family, who will remember him fondly as a good husband, father and grandfather.
Walter's love extended beyond his immediate family; he held a special affection for his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. His ability to create bonds steeped in love and devotion will be remembered as a testament to the kind and loving man he was throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Annette Alley; daughter, Jean (Rex) Morris of Monroe, GA; three step-daughters, Katie (Alberto) Valenzuela of Winston, GA, Shirley (Roy) Sanchez of Fairburn, GA and Joyce (Ferrol) Mayfield of Sharpsburg, GA; two step-sons, Tom Waggoner of Atlanta, GA and Richard D. Ray of Sharpsburg, GA; sister Lena, brothers, Billy and Jerry; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will have a graveside service on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Garden of Memory, located at 2284 Candler Road, Decatur, GA 30032.
The family will have a Celebration of Life for Walter Plowman Alley on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Douglasville Church of Christ located at 4691 Big B Road, Douglasville, GA 30134.
We honor the legacy of compassion and warmth Walter leaves behind. His spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him, reminding us all of the importance of kindness, devotion, and family.
