Walter Simister

Mr. Walter “Rick” Simister IV, age 61, of Douglasville, passed away Monday, June 28, 2010 at Douglas Hospital. He was born April 29, 1949 the son of the late Mr. Walter “Sonny” Simister and Mrs. Ann Jennings Simister. He worked for Choice Care Occupational Medicine as a Facility Manager. He served in the Army in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Marybeth Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife, Bobette Simister of Douglasville; daughters and son-in-laws, Virginia Elizabeth and Michael McCall of Greenville, SC, Elise Kathryn and Lee Vanderhoef of Greenville, SC, Mekensie Anne Simister of Douglasville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Steven and Leanne Gates of Douglasville, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Christie Simister of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Alyssa Gates, Hannah Gates, Olyvia Vanderhoef, Hunter McCall, Jacob McCall, and Braden Simister. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Douglasville with Rev. Sandy Fox and Rev. James Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM.
