Warner G. Watkins

Mr. Warner G. “Nig” Watkins, 69, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at his residence. He was born June 30, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Comer Lester Watkins and the late Mrs. Lola Delay Watkins. He was a member of Pebblebrook Baptist Church in Mableton. He retired from Georgia Power Company following 35 years of service. He enjoyed hot rod and antique cars. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra “Sandy” Lee and brother, C.L. “Buster” Watkins, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sherry Dunaway Watkins of Douglasville; daughter, Susan Kilpatrick of Douglasville; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Tambra Watkins and Kevin and Renee Watkins all of Lithia Springs; sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Tim Akin of Hiram; brother and sister-in-law, Jack Lamar and Kathy Watkins of Flowery Branch; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 3:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Woodall and Mr. Frank Peace officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The following will serve as pallbearers: Larry Cooper, Larry Henson, Cecil Harvey, Tony Stowers, Gene Shelton, and Tracy Moss. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Terry, Bobby Helton and Jeremy Harvey. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Friday, February 13, 2009 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM.
